Solid hardwood is milled from a single piece of wood, and it's the floor many Creedmoor and Oxford families remember from their grandparents' houses. Danny Boy Flooring Company installs solid oak, maple, hickory, and walnut in homes across Raleigh & the RDU.
Because solid planks can be sanded and refinished many times, a good one outlives trends, owners, and even the finish itself.
Choosing solid wood
Solid hardwood prefers a wood subfloor and a stable indoor environment. In slab or high-moisture situations, we'll usually steer you toward engineered hardwood instead.
Installation and site finishing
We nail solid planks to the subfloor, then sand level and apply stain and finish coats on site if you want a custom color. Prefinished solid is available for faster turnaround.
Whenever you're ready for a refresh years later, our refinishing service can bring the surface back.

With ordinary care it can last for generations, because the thick wear layer can be sanded and refinished multiple times.
Generally no. Concrete slabs usually call for engineered products. We'll evaluate your subfloor and tell you what's appropriate.
Prefinished goes in faster with less mess. Site-finished lets us fine-tune the stain color and produces a smooth, sealed surface across the planks.
It can in some cases, but heat and moisture changes are hard on solid wood. We'll look at your system and likely recommend engineered instead.
