Refinishing is one of the things our family does best. Danny Boy Flooring Company sands, stains, and finishes hardwood floors for homeowners in Creedmoor, Oxford, Durham, Hillsborough, and across Raleigh & the RDU.
Many floors we see just need a good sanding and a fresh coat to look new again.
Levels of refinishing
Not every floor needs a full sanding. We'll inspect and recommend the lightest approach that gets you the result you want.
- Screen-and-recoat: refreshes the finish on floors in good shape
- Full sand and finish: removes scratches and wear
- Sand and re-stain: changes the color completely
Custom stain and finish choices
We test stain samples on your actual floor so you can judge color in your lighting. Water-based and oil-based finishes each have advantages, and we'll walk through them.
If your floor is beyond saving, we can install new hardwood instead.
Dust control and prep
We use sanders connected to vacuum systems, seal off doorways, and clean thoroughly. No process is completely dust-free, but careful setup keeps the mess contained.
Hardwood Refinishing - frequently asked questions
Most solid hardwood can, and many engineered floors can too, depending on wear layer thickness. We'll check at your estimate.
Plan for several days for a full refinish, with a longer wait before heavy furniture returns. We'll give you a schedule.
Light staining may sand out. Deep damage may need board replacement. See our floor repair page.
We can darken or change a tone, but going lighter or gray has limits. We'll show samples and be honest. Many customers describe the process in our reviews.
